What is Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra is a state of conscious deep sleep. The methodological discipline that induces this state is also called Yoga Nidra. Nidra means sleep hence Yoga Nidra can be translated into yogic sleep. Yoga Nidra has been studied scientifically and is proven and known by its practitioners for its deeply relaxing properties. (International Journal of Yoga)
Advanced Yoga Nidra teachers use the practice to purify old Samskaras (the imprints in our minds, our conditioning, limiting beliefs). Samskaras are responsible for how we see the world and react to it, and removing old Samskaras will result in positive mental changes and healing (reducing anxiety and depression for example). Besides transforming one’s nature, advanced Yoga Nidra will transform the individual to living in a content state of being regardless of what is happening around us, and thus we can start living in harmony with nature. Used as a healing technique it can lift psychic scars (trauma) and remove mental and emotional blockages (which can also manifest in the physical body; making us sick).
Further, Yoga Nidra can be used to enhance knowledge, calmness and clarity and boost creativity and memory.

The Yoga Retreat Location

We will live in a simple and comfortable countryhouse on the highest point of Femø with stunning views to the ocean. The island is know for its peaceful scenery and friendly people. Multiple beaches and the little harbor town are max. 30 minutes walking away. The house has a shared and private accommodation with three shared bathrooms (one shower and one bathtub!), a library and a fireplace room, a little shop with local and handcrafted goods, a dinning room and plenty of space to practice yoga and yoga nidra. 

The Yoga Retreat Program

You will be served 3 vegan meals each day (dinner on arrival day and breakfast and lunch on departure day). We will start the retreat as we close it with a sharing circle. Each morning there will be a car shuttle to the beach to go winter bathing together. Afterwards we meet in the shala to practice morning Sadhana together which includes Yoga Nidra of course. During the day you can rest or explore the island. After dinner there will be the evening class of either Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra or Kaula Tantra Yoga and Yoga Nidra. During the same time there will be a Yoga Nidra Teacher Training and you are invited to receive Yoga Nidra from the new teachers at the last day as well as you are welcome to join their certification ceremony.
