Why sustainability and yoga go hand in hand?

– a guest blog post by Nodira –

Yoga offers a plenty of lessons on sustainable living that goes beyond the lifestyle and mindset. It creates abundance in our personal lives and the lives of people we share with. In this article we are going to cover why sustainability and yoga go hand in hand.
The concept of sustainable living has been growing over the past decade. Its application relates to lifestyle choices and decisions we are making daily. When we talk about yoga it is more than just a regular physical exercise, controlling your breathing, proper diet, relaxation, and positive thinking. It also includes meditation which helps in developing harmony in your mind, body, and environment.
Being conscious about our environment provides us a solid start in making the right choices of products we purchase, food we eat and life we decide to follow. It is also why many people who continuously practice yoga and meditation seem to be happier, healthier and go for eco-friendly choices no matter whether it a yoga mat or clothing or anything else.

Healthy eating

One of the ways to a healthier and more sustainable living is to realize that the quality and organic food is rich in nutrients, which gives us enough fuel to keep us energized throughout the day. The food that makes us happy changes as we mature physically and spiritually. We constantly need to think of our body as the place we are inhabiting only once in this life and so we need to make the best of it.

Yoga exercise

Exercising yoga does not only make us stronger, more flexible and balanced but also gives us so much energy and increases our overall happiness. Besides, better sleep and an abundance of energy can be achieved through regular yoga exercises. All of it is a part of sustainable living we all should strive for.
Have you heard of corporate yoga? Especially in these days of lockdown it has been flourishing, with a lot of companies realizing the value that yoga and meditation can bring to their employees. With these benefits including increased happiness and productivity and not to mention fewer employees on sick leave, it’s no mystery why corporate yoga is in an upward trend.

The strong connection between intuition and alignment

Following our intuition in yoga encourages us to sometimes step out of alignment, embracing variations of poses, and allowing our body to move and groove to its own rhythm rather than that instructed by the yoga teacher.

I met Julia at a retreat and she is an amazing teacher and a really lovely human. I loved how she didn't rush through the process and we really went back to basics, while at the same time learning a wide variety of things about yoga, from how to do a certain asana to yogic wisdom. It was obvious that Julia knows a lot and she is also really good at sharing it with others. She redefined in my mind what a good yoga teacher is.

Julia is one of the most precious yoga teacher I’ve ever had! I would recommend all her practices with a special mention for her yoga nidra. I got so relaxed and so deeply calmed down by her voice during each session, she helped me letting it go towards either a tight sleep or for restful nap. Very powerful experience and human being. thank you Warrior Princess!
